Annual General Meeting with supporting attraction and start of 75th celebration year

EOA President Philip Prior will end his seven years Presidency of the Association at this AGM, to be held at 2pm in the Cathedral Chapter House. Philip will remain a very active part of the EOA. Nominations (proposed and seconded) for his successor should be from organists with good collaborative leadership skills and a future vision for the Association including encouraging young people, and someone confident to represent the Association at our events and in the wider local sphere and in our IAO Eastern Region. A nomination form for election of the posts of President, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer and other Committee Members will be sent with the AGM paperwork and accounts at the beginning of June. The 75th AGM will be followed by a special 330pm Choral Evensong in the Cathedral to celebrate our anniversary, to be followed by a drink’s reception. As part of our 75th Anniversary celebrations, we are delighted that Samuel Bristow (Assistant Organist at Chelmsford Cathedral) has accepted your committee’s approach to commission a new final voluntary from him which will end the cathedral Evensong. This will not exceed Grade 7 standard and will be made available to all members of the Association to download as a PDF for a very limited time, with the next newsletter in July. To complete the day’s celebrations, following the service and drinks, we have organised a group meal at an excellent Italian restaurant, Il Palazzo, a few minutes’ walk away on Duke Street and close by the Railway Station. Friends and family are invited to help us celebrate at the service and reception/meal as well. NB: Your committee is asking for a RSVP from ALL members, please, for the AGM, Evensong and particularly an indication if you would like to join us for the Italian meal at this stage, so that approximate table numbers and pre-booking menu arrangements can be firmed up with the restaurant.
